It is said that there are about 2,500 waterfalls in Japan with a drop of over 5m. Yamagata Prefecture has 230 waterfalls, nearly 10% of that number. To the right of the statue is a stone monument with three poems that he composed at each visit, called the Sanzan Sankuhi. Some of the inscriptions are not clearly legible, but they are said to describe the scenery, atmosphere and feelings of each of the Club Tourism
