Xiamen is located in the southern part of Fujian Province and faces the Taiwan Strait. Therefore, on a clear day, you can see Taiwan. Fujian Province is said to be the home of Chinese immigrants living all over the world, known as "overseas Chinese." In Xiamen, there is the "Jimei Xue Village," where overseas Chinese who were active in Singapore returned to China and built towers, and the "Overseas Chinese Museum," which introduces the history of overseas Chinese.

Gulangyu Island is a representative tourist destination in Xiamen. It is a small island that can be walked around, but many former embassies and Western-style buildings built during the concession period still remain, giving it an exotic atmosphere. In addition, pianos are widely used on the island, and many famous pianists have been produced there, so it is also known as the "Piano Island."

Wuyi Mountain was registered as a World Natural Heritage Site in 1999. If you visit Wuyi Mountain, you can't miss rafting down the Jiuqu River. While rafting down the stream for about 10 kilometers for about 2 hours, you can enjoy the beautiful peaks such as Dawang Peak, Yunyupeng Peak, Tianyou Peak, and Jiejun Peak, as well as the landscape that resembles a landscape painting. You can also stand at the top of Tianyou Peak and enjoy the magnificent view of Wuyi Mountain and Jiuqu River.

Fujian Tulou are gigantic UFO-like structures. They were registered as a World Heritage Site in 2008. It is said that Tulou began as sturdy homes to prevent invaders from entering, and the outer walls are about 2m thick. About 50 to 100 families live together inside.

Fujian Province is located in the southern part of China, so it is relatively warm throughout the year. However, there are four seasons, so it is best to wear clothes that can be adjusted according to the season. The average annual temperature in Wuyi Mountain is 17.6°C, and the dry season is from Jan. to Mar., which is the most suitable time for sightseeing. There is a large difference in temperature between day and night, and the climate is prone to fog throughout the year. Don't forget to bring rain gear. |
