Hiking and mountaineering trips
<About participating in the Mitokusan Ippei-do Tour>
-
The mountain path up to Mt. Mitoku's Nageiredo Hall was originally a place of training, and there are many difficult and steep sections in places, such as clambering over tree roots and rocks, making it a light mountain climbing course.
It takes at least two hours to walk along the mountain path to Nageiredo (excluding breaks). Thank you for your understanding. -
Entry to Sanbutsuji Temple's Ippyagedo Hall will be prohibited if it is deemed dangerous due to rain, fog, etc. (at the discretion of the temple).
If you are unable to enter the mountain, there will be no refund of the tour fee. You will be able to view the shrine from a remote worship site. -
About clothing and belongings
Please wear comfortable walking clothes and footwear (trekking shoes or hiking boots). On the day of your visit, temple staff will check your shoes when you climb Sanbutsu-ji Temple.
If you do not have trekking shoes, you can purchase "waraji" (straw sandals) at the temple for 700 yen.
There are many parts where you will be using your hands when climbing, so please bring climbing gloves or work gloves.

*There is no pilgrimage up to the Sanbutsu-ji Temple Hall on Mount Mitoku.
What is the Ippyage Hall of Sanbutsu-ji Temple on Mount Mitoku?
Sanbutsu-ji Temple on Mount Mitoku is an ancient Shugendo temple.
Mount Mitoku in Tottori Prefecture is known as a sacred mountain for mountain worship, and due to the popularity of this sacred mountain, its abundant natural environment has remained untouched since ancient times.
At the foot of the mountain are the three temples (Rinko, Kainari, and Shozen) and the main hall, and if you cross the Shikuiri Bridge behind the main hall, you will see many other buildings built using the steep slope of the rocky mountain towering behind. The miraculous appearance of the Ippyage Hall, built on a cliff at the very back of the Sanbutsu-ji temple grounds, is far beyond human skill and exudes a mystical atmosphere, and the legend of En no Gyoja is still told to this day.
