ユネスコ無形文化遺産

約380年続く歴史絵巻

八代妙見祭は熊本県八代市の妙見宮で行われる秋の例大祭で、ユネスコ無形文化遺産に登録されています。
妙見祭のクライマックスは、11月23日に行われる神幸行列です。神輿と神馬を中心に獅子舞、笠鉾、亀蛇、飾馬など40もの出し物が列をなし塩屋八幡宮から八代神社へ向かいます。特に砥崎の河原を、神馬が駆け抜けて、水しぶきが上がる様子は迫力があります。
