One of the most famous scenic spots in Shirakami Sanchi Mountain Range is Anmon Falls. It consists of three waterfalls, and the area around the falls, which flow down from a typical V-shaped valley, is surrounded by steep rock walls and is overgrown with old trees such as beech and pine.

Beech forest walking trail
If you go up to the left just before the "Anmon Falls Trail Entrance", you will continue to the "Beech Forest Walking Trail". This is a course where you can easily stroll through the beech forest in about an hour. The trail is soft and fluffy because it is covered with layers of leaf humus from fallen leaves. Depending on the timing, you may be able to encounter some rare animals.

Juniko Lake and Aoike Pond Area (Aomori Prefecture)
Lake Juniko and Aoike
Juniko Lakes is located on the west side of Shirakami Sanchi Mountain Range, and is said to have been formed when a major earthquake that occurred during the Edo period dammed up a stream, causing the ground to collapse and forming 33 lakes and swamps. However, the smaller ponds were hidden in the forest, and only 12 large ponds were visible, which is why it is called "Juniko Lakes." Among them, the most famous is "Aoike Pond," which is said to be the color of poured blue ink.

Mother Tree (Aomori Prefecture)
Tsugaru Pass is located on the road commonly known as the Shirakami Line. The giant beech tree towering over Tsugaru Pass is called the Mother Tree. It is estimated to be 400 years old, 30 meters tall, and 465 centimeters in circumference, and as the "Mother of the Forest" that embraces everything, it watches over the Shirakami region. Touch the thick trunk of the Mother Tree and receive power from this 400-year-old giant.
Taketai (Akita Prefecture)
This is a natural beech forest located in Fujisato Town, Akita Prefecture, at an altitude of 620 meters. Its official name is "Dakedai Nature Observation Education Forest," and it was designated as such in 1992. There are benches and a wood chip walkway that is partially wheelchair accessible, making it very easy to walk through. Compared to places like Aomori Shirakami, there are fewer visitors, so you can enjoy a leisurely stroll.
Kurokuma Falls (Aomori Prefecture)
Named for the way the falling water looks like a standing bear, this waterfall is one of the "100 Best Waterfalls in Japan" with a drop of 85 meters and a width of 15 meters. The famous waterfall cascading down with a thunderous roar is one of the most impressive in the prefecture.
Mini Shirakami (Aomori Prefecture)
Mini Shirakami is located about 20 kilometers north of the World Heritage Site and covers an area of about 52 hectares. In the untouched, natural beech forest, many of the trees are over 200 years old.
