Hokkaido / Tohoku Areas

Hokkaido / Hokkaido

A place to visit when starting something new
A power spot where the "God of Frontier Development" of the northern land resides

Image

Hokkaido Jingu Shrine is a large shrine located in the center of Sapporo City, which is considered to be the "No. 1 Shrine in Ezo Country". In the 2nd year of the Meiji era Hokkaido, Emperor Meiji chanted that the "Hokkaido Shrine Festival" was held in Tokyo to enshrine the three gods of "Daikoku Soul God (God of Land Soul)" (God of Land Management), "Ōnamuta God (God of Land Management and Cultivation)", and "Shohiko Meijin (God of Land Management, Medicine and Sake Brewing)" as guardian deities of land management.
The shrine was brought to Sapporo by the Secretary of the Reclamation Envoy at the time, and then enshrined Emperor Meiji, and now the "Four Pillar Gods" are considered to be the deities.
One of the major features of this shrine is that the Great Torii gate faces northeast as a defense against Russia, which was advancing into Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands at the time of settlement. It is said that it is very rare for the torii gate to face northeast, and this "torii" is the most famous as a power spot in the temple grounds.
Since it enshrines the "god of pioneering", it is said that when you visit when you start something new or take on a challenge, you can take in strong power into your body.

Hokkaido / Lake Mashu

"Mashu Blue" sparkling in the mountain valleys
The healing power overflowing from the lake surface

Image

Lake Mashu(Lake Baikal (Mashuko) is the most transparent lake in Japan and the second most transparent lake in the world after Lake Baikal.
Because of its rapid depth and transparency, the lake reflects little light other than blue, creating a unique deep blue color, also known as "Mashu blue," on a clear day, creating a mysterious landscape.
In addition to transparency, many people may think of Lake Mashu as the "foggy Lake Mashu".
The warm, moist air moving northward over the Pacific Ocean cools rapidly along the Hokkaido coast, creating thick fog that accumulates in the caldera beyond the outer rim of the mountain and covers the Lake Mashu surface, which was sung in a song in 1966 and attracted a great deal of attention.
Lake Mashu is a "caldera lake" where water pools in a depression created by a massive volcanic eruption about 7,000 years ago, and there are no rivers entering or exiting the lake. This is said to be the reason for the "transparency" of Lake Mashu.
Since there are no rivers flowing in or out of the lake, the surface of the lake is very calm, making it more of a "healing spot" than a power spot.
Come relax and soak up the power of Mother Nature.

Aomori /Aoike Pond

A mysterious blue pond in the World Heritage site "Shirakami Sanchi Mountain Range"

Image

Shirakami Sanchi Mountain Range is the world's largest beech forest, spanning Aomori and Akita prefectures. It is also registered as a World Heritage Site, and many flora and fauna coexist there. Aoike Pond is located in the Juniko Lakes, a group of 33 lakes and marshes at the foot of Shirakami Sanchi Mountain Range-Sanchi Mountains, and when the sunlight hits it, the water's surface turns a beautiful, clear cobalt blue.
Why is the water in Aoike Pond blue? This is a question that could be considered an eternal challenge.
The reason for the blueness of the pond has not yet been scientifically explained.
"(1) It is deep water that springs up from a layer deeper than groundwater."
"(2) It contains an extremely large amount of oxygen compared to ordinary water."
"(3) The color changes depending on the angle at which light (sun) hits it."
There are three types:
However, this alone is not enough to create that blue color.
Is it the quality of the water? Or the fact that the surrounding environment remains unchanged?
What is it that gives off this blueness? While pondering this, soak up the mysterious power that has been bubbling away since ancient times in the quiet forest.

Aomori / Oirase Stream

A healing energy spot in a forest of waterfalls, clear streams and rocks

Image

The scenic Oirase Stream in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture, is a gorge of Oirase that stretches for about 14 km.
It is said that the name "Oirase" comes from the fact that the further in you go, the more rapids there are.
Along the stream, there is a road and an easy-to-walk path, so you can enjoy a leisurely stroll while feeling the power that wells up from the entire forest. The area is particularly beautiful during the seasons when new greenery and autumn leaves change color, attracting many tourists.
The widest waterfall, Choshi Otaki, is the only one in Oirase Stream that flows into the main stream of Oirase, and the power that emanates from its abundant waterfall makes it the most powerful energy spot in Oirase Stream.
Why not visit a forest filled with the gentle power of nature, with clear, fresh water, beech forests, and huge rocks covered in beautiful moss?

Iwate /Ryusendo Cave

The power of water overflowing from one of Japan's largest limestone caves
Experience an ancient message from the underground lake!

Image

Ryusendo Cave is a limestone cave located in Iwaizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture, with a known total length of 2.5 km.
It has been selected as one of the three major limestone caves in Japan, and is also known as "Iwaizumi Wakutsu" due to the presence of an underground lake with water flowing from the mouth of the cave. Many species of bats live in the cave, and the cave and the bats that inhabit it were designated a national natural monument in 1938 as "Iwaizumi Wakutsu and Bats."
The most powerful part of Ryusendo Cave is the aforementioned "Underground Lake." There are seven underground lakes in the cave, and among them, the "Third Underground Lake" boasts a depth of 98 meters and is said to be one of the largest in Japan, with an impressive blue color that seems to draw you in.
The surrounding stalactites and the blue color of the water combine to create a quiet, mysterious power.
Ryusendo Cave's water is famous for being one of the most transparent in the world. The water that springs from the earth is like a collection of the power of the earth. Take a deep breath and calm your mind, and let the power of the ancient earth enter your body.

Yamagata/Dewa Sanzan

A syncretism of nature worship and Buddhism: A holy place for Shugendo...

Image

Dewa Sanzan is the collective name for the three mountains of Mt. Haguro (Dewa Shrine), Mt. Gassan (Gassan Shrine), and Mt. Yudono (Yudono Shrine), which are spread across the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture. It is said that the mountain was founded in 593, and even today it attracts many ascetics and worshippers as a place of mountain worship centered on Shugendo.
Among the three shrines, Yudonosan Shrine is considered to be particularly rare.
Usually, the object of worship is placed inside the main building, but this shrine has neither a worship hall nor a main hall, making it a rare shrine where you can worship the object of worship directly. The object of worship is a huge rock from which hot springs gush forth. The shrine is known for its strict rules that prohibit photography and wearing shoes when worshiping, so you can only experience what the object of worship is like by actually going there.
Yudono Shrine is the inner sanctum of the Dewa Sanzan mountains, and is said to be the place where ascetics who have trained at Mt. Haguro and Mt. Gassan can enter the realm of Dainichi Nyorai, and is said to be a pure and mysterious world where one is commanded "not to speak" and "not to hear."
Mount Haguro, Mount Gassan, and Mount Yudono are said to govern the present world, death, and rebirth, respectively.
Be sure to visit this sacred mountain, overflowing with strong, purified energy, at least once.
