What kind of place is Okushiri Island?

Okushiri Island is an island in the Sea of Japan in the southwest of Hokkaido, with an area of 142.97 square kilometers. It is the fifth largest island in Hokkaido. It can be reached by ferry from Esashi in just over two hours.
