What kind of place is Okushiri Island?

Okushiri Island is an island in the Sea of Japan in the southwest of Hokkaido, with an area of 142.97 square kilometers. It is the fifth largest island in Hokkaido. It can be reached by ferry from Esashi in just over two hours.

Nabe Tsuruiwa Rock

Nabetsuriiwa, created by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan, is a tourist symbol of Okushiri Island.
Nabe-tsuri Rock is a naturally formed donut-shaped rock that resembles the string of a pot. It is lit up at night and appears to float in the dark sea, creating a truly fantastical sight.
