The Yaeyama Islands are a group of 12 islands, including Ishigaki Island, Taketomi Island, Kohama Island, Kuroshima Island, Aragusuku Island, Iriomote Island, Hateruma Island, and Yonaguni Island. They are located 400 to 500 km southwest of the main island of Okinawa.

Yaeyama Islands
Iriomote Island
Iriomote Island is a registered World Heritage Site. It is a mysterious island with mangrove forests and virgin forests that have continued since ancient times. It is also called the Galapagos of the Orient and is known as the island where the Iriomote wildcat, a natural monument, lives.
Nakama River Mangrove
It is the largest mangrove forest in Japan and is home to rare plants and animals.
Mariyudu Falls
This waterfall is located on the Urauchi River that flows through Iriomote Island, and has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan.
Mariyudu means "round pool".
Wildlife Conservation Center
This facility was developed as a base for conservation activities for the Iriomote wildcat, and you can learn about the rare plants and animals that live on Iriomote Island.
Utara Coal Mine
Located near the Utara River, a tributary of the Urauchi River, Okinawa's longest river, this is the historic site of a coal mine that was in operation from 1935 to 1943. It has been designated as one of the Heritage Sites of Industrial Modernization.
Yubu Island
Yubu Island is a small island with a circumference of 2.15 km and an elevation of 1.5 m above sea level.
Feel the sea breeze and listen to the sounds of the sanshin as you leisurely ride a water buffalo cart to the subtropical botanical paradise of Yubu Island.
Komi's Siberian Blueberry Community
The area is home to a colony of hermitage trees, which are characterized by their flat buttress roots.
Taketomi Island
Just a 10-minute ferry ride from Ishigaki, this island features streets paved with white coral sand and red-tiled streets typical of Okinawa.

Ishigaki Island
It is an island in the Yaeyama Islands, located in the East China Sea about 400km southwest of the main island of Okinawa. It is the third largest island in the prefecture after the main island of Okinawa and Iriomote Island. It is bustling as the gateway to tourism in the Yaeyama Islands.

Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave
This is the largest limestone cave on Ishigaki Island, created by nature over a period of 200,000 years. There is much to see here, including the natural beauty of the limestones, the fantastic glow of the limestone cave illuminations, the Suikinkutsu cave where you can enjoy the sound of dripping water, and the Totoro limestone.
Kohama Island
Located in the center of the Yaejima Islands, this island is known as the "navel" of Yaeyama. From Mt. Odake, which is 99m above sea level, you can see all 10 islands except Yonaguni Island.
Sugar Road
There are sugarcane fields on both sides of the road, and the blue sea stretches out beyond them. This is the place that was also used as the setting for the TV drama.

There is a lighthouse and observation deck at the tip, from which you can enjoy the magnificent view of the deep blue ocean below the cliffs.Yonaguni horses and cows live leisurely in the gentle pastures around the cape.

This place is famous as a location for popular TV dramas. Hikawahama Beach, located right in front of the hotel, is a natural beach that has appeared in dramas many times.
Other islands
There is no public transportation and it is not a tourist destination, so it is a hidden spot that is only known by those in the know.
Kuroshima
It is a small, heart-shaped island, and it is said that there are more cows than people.
Aragusuku Island
The sea where dugongs once lived is very clear and the coral reefs are very beautiful. It is also called Panari or Panari Island, which means "detached" in the Okinawa dialect.
