The Ogasawara Islands, located 1,000 km south of Tokyo, are made up of over 30 islands of various sizes.
Since their birth, oceanic islands have never been connected to a continent, and they are home to a large number of plants and animals unique to these islands.
Due to its rarity, it was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2011.

The Ogasawara Islands are one of the largest breeding grounds for the endangered green sea turtle in Japan. With the cooperation of the Ogasawara Marine Center, we will be releasing baby sea turtles into the ocean. On Wednesday, Mar. 5th, the tiny baby sea turtles will be brought on board the Nippon Maru. Enjoy interacting with the baby sea turtles, including taking photos.

Observation of Nanyo Dance, an intangible folk cultural property designated by Tokyo Metropolitan Government

Ogasawara has had a unique history, and as a result, a unique culture was born from the fusion of various cultures, including those from the south. Nanyo Odori is a valuable dance that allows us to learn about the history of the spread of southern culture in Ogasawara.
The exhibition is Itinerary to be viewed on board the Nippon Maru on Thursday, Mar. 6th.

A special stage performance Itinerary for the evening of Tuesday, Mar. 4th on board the Nippon Maru.
She is active as a singer of traditional folk songs that have been handed down for generations in the Ogasawara Islands. In 1997, she moved to Chichijima in the Ogasawara Islands, where she encountered traditional folk songs and began singing them. She played the important role of singing the national anthem at the launching ceremony of the 3rd Ogasawara Maru, and was also appointed as a tourism ambassador for Hahajima in the Ogasawara Islands.

Whales can be seen in Ogasawara almost all year round, but from Jan. to Apr. humpback whales arrive to give birth and raise their young, and whale watching (additional charge) is especially popular in March when ocean currents are stable.

When the Nippon Maru departs from Chichijima, the locals give a grand send-off, which is a specialty of Chichijima. The sight of the pleasure fishing boats sailing alongside the ship and the islanders giving a grand send-off is very moving. Please enjoy the scene of the ship departing, full of smiles.
