About Kyushu Tourist Train

Kyushu is a fun place to travel because each region has its own unique character. Kyushu trains are packed with unique features, including sophisticated looks and interiors, so that you can enjoy the local climate and scenery outside the train windows to the fullest.
A trip on a Kyushu sightseeing train is not only a convenient means of transportation, but the experience of riding it is an unforgettable event in itself.
It will run through all parts of Kyushu, carrying lots of excitement and stories.

The concept of this train is "A train that lets you experience the local culture of the Yufu Highlands Line." Using ingredients from both Fukuoka and Oita prefectures, we will prepare Meals that are carefully prepared with care and attention.

The concept of the train is "Western Kyushu Sea Tour Train." You can enjoy the varied sea views from the train window, including the Ariake Sea, which boasts the highest tidal range in Japan, and Omura Bay, known as Koto no Umi (Sea of the Sound of the Heart) for its calm waves, as well as the delicious local foods brought by the sea.
In addition, while the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen runs through the inland "mountains," the New D&S trains run along routes that face the "sea." By combining these services, you can create your own "free and unique journey," proposing a journey that offers infinite fun for that day and moment.

Ibusuki's Treasure Box

This tourist train, with its distinctive black and white two-tone exterior, runs between Kagoshima Chuo Station and Ibusuki Station. Based on the Dragon Palace legend, the train greets passengers with surprising displays such as white smoke resembling a treasure box.
In stark contrast to the exterior, the colorful and bright interior of the train offers a panoramic view of the majestic Sakurajima and the sparkling blue of Kinko Bay from the spacious sofa seats.

Sea and mountain delicacies

Originating from the myths of Umisachihiko and Yamasachihiko, this tourist train allows you to enjoy the refreshing ocean scenery of the Nichinan coast and the majestic mountain scenery at the same time. The exterior and interior of the train are made with plenty of Obi cedar, a specialty of Nichinan City, allowing you to feel the warmth of the wood.

'Aru Ressha'

This luxury passenger car, commonly known as 'Aru Ressha' was manufactured in 1906 but never saw service.
This train offers a luxurious atmosphere and a course menu using high-quality seasonal ingredients from Kyushu. It runs between Hakata and Yufuin on the "Kyudai Main Line."

Yufuin Forest

This train heads to the coveted hot spring resort of Yufuin, where you can feel like you're at a resort from the moment you board. It features a modern interior, and you can enjoy the view from the window from seats that are set higher than usual. There is also a buffet on board, where you can enjoy sweets and a cafe.

"“36+3” (Sanjyu-Roku plus San)" travels around all of Kyushu's prefectures, the world's 36th largest island, and operates five different routes from Thursday to Monday.

The D&S train is based on the concept of "packing 35 episodes of enjoying Kyushu and having our customers tell us their own '36th episode'," delivering "surprises, impressions, and happiness," and spreading the circle of 39 (thank you!) = "gratitude" by uniting "customers, locals, and us." Please enjoy your trip on this luxury train with all green seats.

A-TRAIN

This tourist express train was designed with the theme of "Nanban Culture introduced to Amakusa in the 16th century." Enjoy a sophisticated and cinematic journey inside the train, which features stained glass and a bar counter.

ASOBOY!

A tourist express train that can be enjoyed by parents and children alike, traveling through the magnificent scenery of Aso. It has large windows, and the popular character "Kuro-chan" is painted on the inside and outside of the train. Inside the train there are lots of fun features, such as a children's play area and a cafe!

Orange Restaurant

A tourist train where you can enjoy a leisurely, leisurely, slow-life trip while taking in the views of Kyushu's west coast. The inside of the train is like a "moving restaurant." You can enjoy "exquisite menus" made in collaboration with various partners using seasonal ingredients from along the line.

The exterior of the "KAWASEMI YAMASEMI" train is Kuma inspired by the jade green color of the river, with the first "KAWASEMI" car being blue and the second "YAMASEMI" car being green. As a train running along the rapids and Hisatsu Line stretching alongside the Kuma river, the interior of the train, which is inspired by Kuma regional forests, is richly decorated with local materials. Hitoyoshi Kuma You can spend a luxurious and very warm time while feeling the natural aroma of "Hinoki" and "Sugi" (Japanese cedar) and "Igusa" (rush grass) produced in Yashiro the region.

Minami-Aso Railway

A sense of freedom awaits you! If you're traveling in Minami-Aso, why not try the tourist train that runs 17.7km from Takamori Station to Tateno Station?

Minami-Aso Railway suspended operations on the entire line due to the impact of Kumamoto earthquake that occurred in Apr. 2016, and the entire line reopened on Jul. 15, 2023, for the first time in seven years and three months.
The famous "Trolley Train" is a leisurely ride through the magnificent scenery of the Five Peaks Aso and the outer rim of Minami-Aso, allowing you to enjoy the grand panorama of Minami-Aso while feeling the refreshing highland air.
The slow-moving trolley train is full of fun as you gaze upon the Aso mountains! Another attraction is the conductor's guided tour of tourist spots and springs.

On weekends and holidays from Mar. to Nov., there are four round trips per day, and during the spring, Golden Week, and summer holidays, there are daily trains (local trains operate daily). For more information, please check Minami-Aso Railway official website.

Shimatetsu Cafe Train

A tourist train that runs through the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture, where you can enjoy local gourmet food and sweets.

Enjoy the approximately 1 hour and 30 minute journey packed with sights that can only be seen on a local line, such as a train attendant's guided tour of the tranquil scenery, and a stop at Omisaki Station, known for its yellow handkerchiefs and being the station closest to the sea in Japan.
