Generally, shrines and temples involve a lot of walking and stairs.
If you don't like walking long distances, try searching for tours using keywords such as "leisurely, leisurely trip" or "touring by taxi."

Q.When is the best time to see the cherry blossoms?

The early-blooming cherry blossoms at Hirano Shrine start in early Mar., while those at Maruyama Park, Heian Shrine, and Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto City usually reach their peak from late Mar. to early Apr.. Depending on the type of cherry blossom, the late-blooming cherry blossoms at Ninna-ji Temple's Omurozakura, Haradanien, and Kamigamo Shrine are at their best in mid-Apr..

Q.When is the best time to see the autumn leaves?

It is from mid Nov. to mid-Dec.. The time when the leaves change color varies depending on the location in Kyoto City, but it is getting later every year.
The earliest autumn foliage in Kyoto is in Takao, starting in early Nov.. Even in Dec., you can still enjoy the autumn foliage in Arashiyama and Sagano.

Q. How cold is it in Kyoto in autumn and winter?

There is not much difference in temperature compared to Kanto, but if you are taking part in a tour that includes early morning or night visits, please take measures to protect yourself from the cold.

A great memento of your trip to Kyoto! Here are some recommended souvenirs selected by our tour planners.

Yatsuhashi
It is a type of hard-baked rice cracker made by mixing rice flour, sugar, and cinnamon, steaming it, rolling it out thinly, and then baking it. "Nama-tsuhashi," which is made without baking the dough, is also famous. Currently, matcha, black sesame, peach, strawberry, chocolate, and other flavors are available. Assorted packs are also available, so please give them a try.

Pickles
A classic Kyoto souvenir. The most representative pickles are "shibazuke," "senmaizuke," and "suguki." Each long-established store has its own traditional methods and commitment. You can sample them at any store, so you can have fun choosing.

Chirimen
The chirimen used are carefully selected and caught domestically. The Japanese pepper berries are also domestically grown. These two ingredients are carefully cooked until plump and fluffy to create "chirimen sansho." The flavor varies depending on the store, so one of the fun things to do is to try different flavors to find your favorite.

Yuzen Accessories
Yuzen paper is made using the dyeing technique of Kyo Yuzen, which is famous as a traditional craft in Kyoto. It is vividly finished in such a tasteful material of Kyoto. Recently, Kyo Yuzen made from "denim fabric" has also become popular. Japanese-style accessories are popular among all generations, so they are also appreciated as souvenirs.
