Overview of the Hokkaido Shinkansen New Train (H5 Series)

About the design

About the design

The design is based on the E5 series, with some changes to the interior and exterior, and is based on the theme of "Prologue of the North Experience," with the hope that this will serve as a prologue to a journey to Hokkaido and raise expectations for the journey that follows.

Exterior design exudes a sense of speed

The upper part of the body is painted the same "Tokiwa Green" as the E5 series, in order to maintain a common Image with Tohoku.

The central band features a line of "Ayaka Purple," reminiscent of lilac, lupine, and lavender.

The lower part of the body is finished in an elegant white color called "Hiun White."

Symbol Mark

Symbol Mark

Using the motifs of "the grandeur of Hokkaido" and the "Gyrfalcon," which also flies to Hokkaido, the logo expresses the "speed and convenience" and "expansion of regional exchange" that come from connecting the northern land with Honshu by Shinkansen.

* The "H" in the format name "H5 series" stands for the initials of "Hokkaido Railway Company", which is the English company name.
