Utara Coal Mine (Iriomote Island, Okinawa Prefecture)
One of the modern industrial heritage sites
Located near the Utara River, a tributary of the Urauchi River, this is the historic site of a coal mine that was in operation from 1935 to around 1943.
It has been recognized as one of the Heritage Sites of Industrial Modernization and is a site of a building located in the midst of subtropical nature.
It is a spot where you can feel the history while exploring the nature of Iriomote Island.
