Oku-Iya (Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture)
A hidden place where the legend of the Heike clan is passed down
The Oku-Iya Double Kazura Bridge in Oku-Iya consists of a 44m-high male bridge and a 22m-high female bridge that are parallel to each other. It is said to have been built about 800 years ago by the Heike clan to travel to the horse riding grounds of Mount Tsurugi. Along with the Iya Kazura Bridge, it is a symbol of the uncharted territory of Iya. Next to the female bridge is the Yaen, a human-powered ropeway that crosses the river by pulling in a rope.
