音楽と花火の競演
関門海峡の夏の夜空を彩る海峡花火大会は、昭和60年（1985年）、お盆を郷里で迎える人たちのために、（財）下関21世紀協会が始めました。関門海峡の美しい夜景を舞台に海峡の両岸から打ち上げられる計1万5千発の華麗な花火が見物客を魅了します。
昭和63年（1988年）からは、北九州市の門司区側からも花火が打ち上げられるようになり、両市が合同で開催するようになりました。
1万5千発の打ち上げ花火や趣向を凝らした仕掛け花火が、下関と門司の両岸で繰り広げられるという迫力満点の花火大会は、今や日本で有数の花火大会のひとつに数えられるようになりました。
