It got its name from the fact that it is made up of eight ponds that have been formed over many years from melting snow from Mt. Fuji seeping underground.
The water from this pond, which is said to have been formed about 1,200 years ago, has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Waters (※).

Flower City Park
Hana no Miyako Park, located in the Lake Yamanaka area (approximately 1,000m above sea level), is divided into the flower fields and farm area (free admission) and Seiryu no Sato (paid admission area).
In the garden you can enjoy flowers of all seasons and magnificent views of Mt. Fuji.

Arakurayama Sengen Park
This is a popular spot for viewing Mt. Fuji with tourists from both Japan and abroad, as it offers the quintessentially Japanese scenery of Mt. Fuji and the five-story pagoda.
You can see a spectacular view of the cherry blossoms in mid-Apr. every year. The observation deck will be renovated in 2022, making it even more attractive.

FUJIYAMA Twin Terrace
This observation deck opened in the summer of 2021 at Shindo Pass, a popular scenic spot from which you can get a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji. There is the First Terrace, where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Yamanaka and Mt. Fuji, and the Second Terrace, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji right in front of you, and you can enjoy the scenery in all four seasons.

Narusawa Ice Cave
The Narusawa Ice Cave in Narusawa Village is a cave at the entrance to the Aokigahara Jukai forest, near the Fuji Five Lakes, Lake Saiko and Lake Kawaguchi. It is a lava cave with a total length of about 156 meters and is designated as a natural monument.
The tour goes around the circular cave, allowing you to enjoy the various expressions of the cave. The highlights are the beautiful icicles and ice walls. Another spot worth visiting is the Fugaku Wind Cave, a natural monument that can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot (about 30 minutes on the nature trail).

Fugaku Wind Cave
The Fugaku Wind Cave in Narusawa Village is a cave located at the entrance to the Aokigahara Jukai forest, near the Fuji Five Lakes, Lake Saiko and Lake Kawaguchi. With a total length of about 201 meters and an average temperature of 3 degrees, it was once used as a natural refrigerator.
Compared to Narusawa Ice Cave, this cave has a gentler slope, and the highlight is the large icicles (best viewing time is from early Jan. to late May.).

Suruga Bay (Surugawan) Cruise
The difference in elevation between Suruga Bay, known as the deepest bay in Japan, and Mt. Fuji is over 6,000m! The view of Mt. Fuji from the sea while feeling the scale of nature is truly magnificent.

Nihondaira
The Nihon-daira Yume Terrace, which opened in 2018, has an exhibition space where you can learn about Nihon-daira, as well as a lounge space. You can walk around the observation deck on the third floor, and enjoy the spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay, as well as Miho no Matsubara and Shizuoka City.
Right next to Nihondaira Yume Terrace is the Nihondaira Ropeway station, which takes you to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, a national treasure associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu, so it's a spot you'll want to visit as well.

Izu Panorama Park/Aoki Terrace
Izu Panorama Park, which was renovated in 2021, is a resort facility with a ropeway that connects the base area and summit area of Mt. Katsuragi in about 7 minutes. In the base area, you can enjoy restaurants and souvenir shopping.
Furthermore, the "Ao Terrace" at the summit has a cafe and observation deck where you can enjoy the magnificent view of Mt. Fuji, and the view of Mt. Fuji from the water basin deck is particularly popular as a new scenic spot.

Mizugatsuka Park
Mizugazuka Park in Susono City is located at the second station of Mount Fuji (approximately 1,450m above sea level) and is also used as a shuttle bus stop to the Fujinomiyaguchi fifth station during the climbing season.
From the observation deck, which can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot, you can see the impressive Mt. Fuji from the Hoei crater side.
Mori no Eki Mt. Fuji, located within the park, opened in 2016. In addition to a shop selling Mt. Fuji-related goods, there is also a restaurant where you can enjoy a menu using local ingredients.

Mishima Skywalk
Opened in 2015, Mishima Skywalk is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Japan, stretching over 400m in length! You can enjoy an aerial stroll while taking in the view of Mt. Fuji.
Once you cross the bridge, you'll find a variety of facilities, including athletic activities, restaurants, and shops, making your stay a lot more enjoyable.

Mishima Taisha Shrine
It is famous as the shrine where Minamoto no Yoritomo prayed for the restoration of the Genji clan. Within the grounds, there are monuments bearing Basho's haiku and Bokusui's tanka. The treasure museum houses many important cultural properties.
Along with visiting Mishima Taisha Shrine, you can also enjoy eel. It is said that eels that have been left to swim in the spring waters of Mt. Fuji for a few days lose their unpleasant odor and become chewy and delicious.

Lake Ashi
This lake is the center of tourism Hakone. There are many attractions, such as the ropeway that connects to Owakudani, the Lake Ashi sightseeing boats, Hakone Shrine, Narukawa Museum, and Hakone Checkpoint!
