The annual Chichibu Shrine festival, Chichibu Night Festival, takes place in December in Chichibu.
It is counted as one of Japan's three most beautiful festivals and three most famous float festivals, along with the Gion Festival Kyoto and Hida Takayama Festival in Hida, and is a traditional festival that has been held for over 300 years since the Edo period.
Six gorgeous and heavy Kasaboko floats and floats depart for Otabisho, a shrine located about 1km from Chichibu Shrine. At the same time, fireworks are launched at Hitsujiyama Park, a rare winter display in the country. The combination of the six Kasaboko floats and floats arriving at the Otabisho at the climax and the fireworks lighting up the night sky is a spectacular sight!
