The best place to see autumn leaves in the Tokai region, with over 4,000 maple trees turning red and yellow.

Korankei is located in a valley along the Tomoe River. It is said to have started when the 11th head priest of Kosekiji Temple, San'ei, planted the trees during the Edo period, and today it has become a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves, with over 4,000 maple trees changing color. The approach to the temple along the Tomoe River is lined with particularly tall trees, and in the autumn foliage it is called the "Maple Tunnel." The red bridge over the Korankei, and the beautiful autumn leaves reflected on the river's surface create a spectacular view that can only be seen at this time of year.

Located in a valley on the tributary of Oigawa, the contrast between the emerald green lake surface and the colorful valley is stunning. There are walking paths so you can enjoy various views of the clear stream. The highlight is the "Dream Suspension Bridge", which is 90m long and 8m above the lake. From the bridge, enjoy the magnificent view of the maple, zelkova and other trees dyed in autumn colors.

Little Kyoto Shuzenji Temple... Stroll through the crimson red ancient Shuzenji Temple

You can see autumn leaves along the Katsura River, in the maple forest Shuzenji Temple Nature Park, and in the maple forest of Shuzenji Temple Niji no Sato. This maple forest was planted in the Taisho era with about 2,000 trees of seven different kinds, including Japanese maple and sugar maple. Please enjoy the 20,000 square meter forest.

Hunting for maples along the Miyagawa River, with around 1,000 trees swaying in the wind

You can see about 1,000 maple trees along the Miyagawa River that runs through the temple grounds. The scenery of the maple trees bathed in light and the maple trees flowing on the river spreads before your eyes. At night, the trees are lit up, creating a fantastical sight.

A famous spot for autumn foliage with a spectacular view of strangely shaped and bizarre rocks

The mountainside, 695 meters above sea level, is covered with evergreen conifers and deciduous trees, and the autumn foliage is spectacular. A famous spot affectionately known as Owari's Momijidera

Inuyama Jakkoin Temple is also known as the "Maple Dera of Owari." There are about 800 maple trees, many of which are large and have fine leaves that turn vibrant colors, making for a spectacular sight.
Ayuha sushi (rolled sushi with sweetfish simmered in syrup), available only during the Momiji Festival, is a popular local dish.

A national treasure castle colored by autumn leaves

This famous castle was the stage for the Sengoku period, and its castle tower is the oldest surviving in Japan.
Built on a small hill on the banks of the Kiso River, the view from the top floor of the castle tower is truly magnificent.

A famous castle built by Tokugawa Ieyasu as the final step in unifying the country

Nagoya Castle is also splendid with the autumn leaves that decorate the surrounding area. The autumn leaves in Ninomaru Garden in the park are also one of the highlights. In Jun. 2018, the Honmaru Palace was completed and opened to the public after 12 years of restoration work.

Yusanji Temple is one of the three great mountains of Enshu. After passing through the temple gate, the approach to the temple is lined with autumn leaves on both sides, and the temple grounds are decorated with the 1,000 maple trees that are said to be colored in red.

Mt. Gozaisho The autumn foliage of the Yunoyama Onsen (hot spring) begins at the top of the mountain around the middle of the month Oct. and continues for about a month until it reaches the foot of the mountain. The red of the azalea family, the yellow of the camphor tree family, and the green of the coniferous trees gradually and beautifully change color from the top of the mountain to the foot of the mountain. Please enjoy the contrast of the magnificent view of the autumn leaves from the ropeway.
