Kuroshio Forest Mangrove Park
Sumiyou town, where Kuroshio Forest Mangrove Park is located, is 94% covered by forest, and within the park you can experience the mangroves through a canoe ride, as well as an observation deck from which you can get a panoramic view of the mangroves.

Kinsakuhara virgin forest
The World Heritage Site of Kinsakugengenshojin is home to subtropical plants such as giant tree ferns that evoke an ancient forest, and is also home to rare creatures such as the blue jay and the tree lizard, which are nationally designated natural monuments.

Tanaka Isson Memorial Museum of Art
This art museum has a permanent exhibition of the collection of Japanese painter Tanaka Isson, who spent his later years in Amami painting the nature of Amami.

Kakeroma Island is about 20 minutes by ferry from Amami Oshima.
There are settlements called "shima" scattered around Shimauchi, but it is a small island with a population of just 1,400 people.
The island is surrounded by blue waters and a white sandy beach, and is home to lush mountains that spread out like large forests and are home to many living creatures.

Sugira Beach
It is a natural cove surrounded by coral reefs and is used as a swimming beach.

Hyakunodai National Park
Hyakunodai, the highest plateau in Kikai Town, is a vast elevated coral reef plateau of about 700 hectares at an altitude of about 203 meters that spreads across the center of the island. It is said to be one of the top ten scenic spots in Amami, offering a magnificent view from the observation deck, overlooking the emerald sea fringed by coral reefs and the tranquil villages.

Idea leuconoe
This butterfly is the symbol of the island and was first spotted on Kikaijima Island around 1971-1972. You can usually see it flying leisurely between May. and Jul..

The strangely shaped rocks and cliffs formed by erosion from seawater, commonly known as "Glasses Rocks," are Kachiji representative of Tokunoshima that was created by nature over a long period of time.

It is part of Amami Gunto Kunitate Koen and has been selected as one of the top 10 Amami 10. A memorial tower for the Battleship Yamato stands in Koma Hiroba.

Mushirose
Located in Northern Tokunoshima, this granite rock formation is rare in the Amami Islands, which are mostly coral reef rocks. It was named after the fact that it looks like a mat laid out on the ground.

Tamina Cape
This cliff is about 51 meters high and is one of the most scenic spots on the island. If you look down at the sea, you may be lucky enough to see wild sea turtles popping up from the water. It is considered one of the Amami 10.

Shoryudo Cave
It is designated as a natural monument Kagoshima-ken and is 3,500m long, of which about 600m is open to the public. The stalactites are beautifully developed, and the flowstones in particular are said to be among the largest in the country.

Banyan tree
It was planted by the first graduating class of Kunigami Elementary School in 1898, and even today, its branches and leaves spread widely across the school grounds. It has been chosen as one of the New 100 Famous Trees Japan, and is affectionately known as "Japan 1 's No. 1 Gajumaru."

Yuri
Yuri is a mysterious sandy beach about 1.5km offshore from Oganeku Coast. It is a pure white sandy beach that appears only at low tide during mid-tide and spring tide from spring to autumn each year.

Oshima
Amami Oshima is proud of its silk fabrics, which are representative of Japan and are counted among the three greatest textiles in the world.

Chicken rice
A local dish from Amami, made by placing shredded chicken, shiitake mushrooms, Kinshi egg, pickled papaya and other ingredients and seasonings on top of rice in a bowl, and then pouring chicken stock soup over it.

Amami brown sugar shochu
This authentic shochu is brewed using rice malt and pure brown sugar made from sugarcane juice, and then distilled in a single pot.

White sesame
Kikai is the number one producer of white sesame in Japan 1. Kikai white sesame has a wonderful aroma and is very popular as a health food containing many vitamins and minerals. During the harvest season, you can see Sesame Street, which is unique to Kikai.

Sugarcane and brown sugar
Kikai has slightly alkaline soil, which makes it ideal for growing sugarcane. One-third of the island's total area is made up of sugarcane fields, and you can get an elevated panoramic view of the area from the Hyakunodai Park.

Sugarcane
Tokunoshima's total area is only one-third of Amami Oshima, but it has the largest cultivated land area of any of Amami Islands. The sugar cane from Tokunoshima is characterized by its Toyotomi minerals and flavor.

Bullfighting
Tokunoshima still has a strong bullfighting Bunka with over 400 years of history. The bullfighting in Tokunoshima is said to be the hottest among all the places where bullfighting tournaments are held, and is a traditional festival that is highly regarded nationwide.
