Ise Shrine

Ise Grand Shrine, affectionately known as "Oise-san," is not a single shrine, but a collective name for 125 shrines and shrines of various sizes. It is mainly made up of the Inner Shrine, which enshrines Amaterasu Omikami, the great ancestor of the Japanese people, and the Outer Shrine, which enshrines Toyouke Omikami, who is in charge of Amaterasu Omikami's meals and is said to be the guardian deity of all industry.

Izumo Taisha is a shrine dedicated to Okuninushi no Okami, known as the god of marriage. The highlight is the largest shimenawa (sacred rope) in Japan, hung in the Kagura Hall (Source: Izumo Tourist Association). It is about 13 meters long and weighs about 5.2 tons, and has the power to overwhelm anyone who sees it.

Miyajima is one of the Three Most Scenic Spots of Japan, and is home to Itsukushima Shrine, a designated World Heritage Site. The entire island is considered a sacred place, and logging has been prohibited, leaving a rich virgin forest. Miyajima also has many flowers and plants that reflect the seasons, allowing you to enjoy the changing of the flowers throughout the four seasons.

Cape Nosappu is famous as a sunrise spot. Every year, many tourists from all over the country visit Cape Nosappu on New Year's Day to see the first sunrise of the year.

Chusonji Temple has many things to see, such as the Mine Yakushido Hall, which is said to bring good luck to the eyes, and the Golden Hall, the first National Treasure building. You can get a goshuin stamp at 11 places, including the Chusonji Temple Main Hall and Benkei-do, and you can also purchase amulets for warding off bad luck and finding a partner.

Kusatsu Onsen is a famous hot spring that is counted among the three most famous hot springs in Japan. You can enjoy the picturesque scenery that is unique to Kusatsu at the Yubatake in the center of the hot spring town and the hot spring of Atsu-no-yu.

Ginzan Onsen is a hot spring town with a charming Taisho-era atmosphere, with multi-story wooden inns lined with gas lamps. There is a communal foot bath called "Waraku Foot Bath" on the banks of the Ginzan River.

Area: Aomori Prefecture

Located at an altitude of about 925m, Sukayu Onsen has been loved by locals as a hot springs resort for 300 years. The hot springs are famous for the "Hiba Sennin Bath." The bathhouse, which is said to be 160 tatami mats in size, is made entirely of hiba and does not have a single pillar. As the name suggests, the spring water is highly acidic.
