Hot Spring Specialties

A wide variety of delicious foods, including old and new hot spring specialties
In front of the foot bath in the center of town, they sell "Kamemanju", a well-known Ginzan Onsen specialty. With a thin skin and a delicately sweet bean paste filling, it is a popular souvenir staple. "Karinto Manju", with its crispy brown sugar flavored skin, has also become a new hot spring specialty. The fragrant flavor can only be achieved when it is freshly made. A recommended takeout gourmet treat that can be eaten while walking is the crispy, chewy, and spicy "Curry Pan". There is also a spicier version, which is addictively delicious.

Hot Springs

Hot springs originating from a major silver mine in the Edo period
Nobezawa Silver Mine, which is said to have been discovered in 1456, was one of the three major silver mines along with Iwami in Shimane and Ikuno in Hyogo at its peak, and in 1636 it flourished as a government mine directly managed by the shogunate. During the Kan'ei era, hot springs were discovered in the Ginzan River by Horiko, and even after the mine closed, the quality of the waters meant that it continued to be used as a hot spring resort. In the early Showa era, drilling uncovered an abundance of high-temperature water, and the area developed into a modern hot spring town. In 1985, the Nobezawa Silver Mine Ruins were designated a national historic site, and it is popular with tourists along with the retro-modern hot spring town.
