Hot Spring Specialties

Hand-pulled somen noodles with a chewy texture and smooth texture
Daimon somen is a traditional somen noodle from Toyama that dates back to the Edo period. As it is hand-pulled somen, it is characterized by its firmness and smooth texture. As the long noodles are rolled into a ball, it is also called Shimada somen or marumage somen. It is left to rest overnight to release the gluten, and then dried for about 10 days, bringing out the deep flavor of somen. It is made in the Tonami region from early winter to late spring, which is the best time for somen production, and it is also characterized by the fact that the producer's name has been included on the wrapping paper since ancient times.

Hot Springs

Approximately 3 million tulips of approximately 300 varieties
The Tonami Tulip Fair is held every year from late Apr. to early May., with Tonami Tulip Park as the main venue. During the fair, about 3 million tulips of about 300 varieties bloom in full glory. It is also fun to view the ground painting of a large flowerbed made of about 200,000 tulips from the Tulip Tower, the symbol of the park.
