Hot Spring Specialties

Cheesecake born and raised in Nasu
At Cheese Garden Gohokan, the cheesecakes made with plenty of fresh cream cheese are popular. The Goyotei Cheesecake is a baked treat that makes the most of the natural flavors of the ingredients. Fresh, high-quality local cream cheese is blended according to an original recipe, and then baked by a skilled pastry chef at three different temperatures for an hour. It boasts a beautiful, even browning, and its rich flavor, smooth texture, and moist, chewy texture are the key points of its popularity.

Hot Springs

Completion of the Nasu Imperial Villa and the development of Shin-Nasu Onsen
The history of Shin Nasu Onsen dates back to 1923, when hot water was successfully drawn from the source of Daimaru Onsen in Nasu Onsenkyo. Eventually, a ryokan opened south of Nasu Onsen, below Asahi Bridge, and the surrounding area came to be known as Shin Nasu Onsen. After the nearby Nasu Imperial Villa was completed in 1926, villas, hotels, pensions, company retreats and more began to appear, making the area one of the most famous resort areas in the Nasu Highlands. Since 2007, approximately 560 hectares to the north of the Imperial Villa site has been open to the public as "Nasu Heisei Forest."
