温泉の名物

牧場のソフトクリームも楽しみのひとつ
那須温泉周辺は古くから酪農が盛んで、那須りんどう湖ファミリー牧場、那須高原南ヶ丘牧場、アルパカ牧場那須ビッグファーム、千本松牧場など観光牧場も多い。動物とふれあうもよし、バーベキューやアトラクションを楽しむもよし。これらのほとんどで新鮮な乳製品の販売を行っているが、なかでも人気なのが濃厚なソフトクリーム。新鮮な牛乳のおいしさがギュッと濃縮されていて、桜ソフトや苺ソフトなど期間限定ものも見逃せない。

温泉のあれこれ

松尾芭蕉が立ち寄った那須温泉
俳人松尾芭蕉は、奥州紀行の途中、那須温泉鹿の湯に立ち寄っている。1689年4月、芭蕉は弟子の河合曽良と共に、那須与一が願を掛けたという那須温泉神社を拝観後に歌枕・殺生石を見ようと訪れ、この地で「石の香や夏草赤く露あつし」という句を詠む。当時の様子を「殺生石は温泉の出る山陰にあり。石の毒気いまだほろびず、蜂・蝶のたぐひ、真砂の色の見えぬほどかさなり死す」と記し、周辺の殺伐した雰囲気を伝えている。
