The teahouse of the inn "Okamotoya" in Myoban Onsen, one of the eight hot springs of Beppu, is famous for its "Hell Steamed Pudding." The firm pudding, steamed in the steam from the hot spring, has a rich egg flavor and is smooth. In addition to custard, there are also potato and coffee flavors. Also, in Beppu, there is a cooking method called "Hell Steamed Cuisine" that has been passed down since the Edo period, in which ingredients are quickly steamed in the high-temperature steam. The flavor of the ingredients is concentrated and excess oil is removed, making it both delicious and healthy. You can bring your own ingredients to the city-run "Hell Steamed Workshop Kannawa" and other places to try this out.

A stamp rally around Beppu's 88 hot springs
The Beppu Hatto Onsen Road is a stamp rally that takes you around Beppu's 88 hot springs. Beppu has about 2,300 hot springs, which is about 10% of the hot springs in Japan, and of these, about 140 public hot springs, hotels, and inns are participating. It is called a "Yuhenro" (hot spring pilgrimage), which is similar to Shikoku Pilgrimage, and if you collect 88 stamps in your "Spa Port" stamp book, you will be given the title of "Beppu Hatto Onsen Road Master." It is so popular that hot spring aficionados from all over the country flock to take on the challenge. There is also a walking program called the Beppu Hatto Walk that runs all year round.
