Hot Spring Specialties

"Hot spring rice porridge" cooked in famous hot spring water that is gentle on the stomach
Drinking Shirahone Onsen water gently promotes blood flow in the digestive system and regulates the body's cycle. Rice porridge cooked in the slightly astringent hot spring water brings out the sweetness of the rice, giving it a mellow flavor. It was originally served for breakfast in response to requests from Accommodation, but it gradually gained popularity and became established as a local specialty. New menu items have now been introduced, such as "hot spring rice porridge croquettes" and "hot spring rice porridge oyaki."

Hot Springs

The "Yu-go" (bath name) reflects the spring quality and history of each inn
Shirahone Onsen has more than 10 hot springs. Each has its own delicately different characteristics, and all of the inns and hotels in Shirahone Onsen are named after the characteristics and origins of their waters, and can be identified by their "bath names." The atmospheric names and spring qualities, such as "Yumoto" (hot spring source), "Awanoyu" (bubbles so fine you could write on your skin), "Hebiananoyu" (heavenly hole hot spring), and "Aratamanoyu" (warm water taught to you by a snake), are part of the fun of visiting the hot springs.
