Omachi's local delicacy "Kurobe Dam Curry"
"Kurobe Dam Curry" is a local gourmet dish inspired by Kurobe Dam, and its basic form is an arch-shaped rice that holds back the curry sauce. The curry, which warmed the bodies and minds of the workers at the construction site of Kurobe Dam, has been served as "Arch Curry" since the early 1960s, but in Jul. 2009, seven stores began selling it under the name "Kurobe Dam Curry" with the aim of promoting tourism and the local area in Omachi City. The number of stores has now grown to about 20, and it has become a hot topic in the media.

"Shingyo-Shin Soba Festival" where you can eat autumn soba
The Shingyo district of Omachi City is located at an altitude of 1000m, and experiences extreme temperature differences, making it the perfect environment for growing soba. Every Oct., the Shingyo Shin Soba Festival is held, where you can eat "early autumn soba," made with buckwheat flour freshly harvested in the fall in Shingyo. You can enjoy fresh soba at guesthouses and soba restaurants that are members of the festival. There is also a soba eating contest and a "round-the-clock soba restaurant stamp rally," and soba lovers from all over the country visit during the period.
