Hot Spring Specialties

A local staple: "Komagane Sauce Katsudon"
The "Komagane Sauce Katsudon" has become a Komagane specialty and has a history of over 60 years. Rice is served in a bowl, topped with crispy cabbage, and then pork cutlet, topped with the shop's secret sauce. In Komagane, this has long been what people call "katsudon." Try it as a post-bath meal.

Hot Springs

The sacred dog "Hayataro" from which the hot spring was named
About 700 years ago, a dog kept at Kozenji Temple, a famous temple on the Komagane Plateau, was so strong and fast that it was nicknamed "Hayataro." At the time, in Enshu Mitsuke (Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture), there was a custom of offering a young girl to a monster at the autumn festival. Upon hearing this story from a traveler, the head priest of Kozenji Temple sent Hayataro off. On the night of the festival, Hayataro defeated the monster and returned to the head priest, despite being seriously injured and near death. He barked "woof!" and died. This story has been passed down and became the origin of the hot spring's name.
