Highlights

The water is clear at the source but turns brown when it comes into contact with air. It is rich in minerals and has a high salt concentration, so it has excellent heat retention properties.

Hot Spring Specialties

A new dish made with buckwheat flour from Hakuba Village
"Hakuba Galette" has become a new specialty of Hakuba. Galette is a local dish from Brittany, France. Buckwheat flour, water, salt, and other ingredients are mixed together and left to rest, then a crepe-like dough is rolled out thinly and baked, and then topped with meat, seafood, eggs, cheese, and more. In Hakuba, the dough is made from local buckwheat flour and topped with Hakuba pork, Shinshu salmon, and seasonal vegetables. Local inns and restaurants each have their own unique recipes.

Hot Springs

A gondola ride takes you to the top, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of lilies.
From summer to autumn, take the Iwatake Gondola Lift "Noah" to the summit station at an altitude of 1,289m. From there, take the promenade for about 30 minutes to the Hakuba Northern Alps Viewpoint, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains. On the other side, you will find the lush "Nezuko Forest" with beech, mizunara, and the traditional tree Nezuko, where you can enjoy therapeutic walking on the "Nezuko Forest View Nature Trail", which takes about 60 minutes to complete.
