Otari-zuke is a specialty pickle made in Otari-mura, next to Hakuba-mura. Local vegetables (cucumbers, radishes, carrots, eggplants) harvested in Otari-mura are finely sliced and pickled in soy sauce, with the myoga and shiso fruits adding a punch of flavor. You can taste the gentle flavor of the vegetables grown in the clear air and clean water, and it is the perfect accompaniment to rice or as a filling for onigiri. Locally, it is also used as a filling for oyaki.

The hot spring waters of Wakaguri Onsen upstream mix with abundant spring water, allowing a diverse range of aquatic life to live there. They can be seen in relatively large numbers on hot nights, and firefly viewing tours led by local guides are also available.
