Tsutsumi-age from Tsutsumi-ya is a popular deep-fried manju in Sakunami Onsen. It has a crispy exterior and is filled with lightly sweet white bean paste containing walnuts inside. It keeps well, making it a perfect souvenir. The five types of skewered dango (dumplings) available - soy sauce, sesame, bean paste, zunda, and walnut - are also popular. The regularly cut dango are chewy and soft. It's also fun to eat at a seat in the shop while looking out at Mount Kamakura (Mount Gorilla) in front of you.

This hot spring has long been loved by intellectuals, including Bansui Doi, Mitome Yamada, Inafune Tazawa, Shogo Shiratori, Aiso Yuki, Seisen Ogiwara, Ippei Okamoto, and Shigeo Miyao. Among them, Shiki Masaoka followed in the footsteps of Basho Matsuo, and in his travelogue "Hate Shirazu no Ki" he wrote, "I stayed at Sakunami Hot Springs....The hot spring can be reached only by descending a cliff along a corridor several hundred times. Just one floor below the bathtub is a cool mountain stream. It must be a strange spring in the mountains," and he also wrote, "The hot spring flows along a corridor through the summer mountains."
