Hot Springs

Hakusan mountain range, a treasure trove of rare animals
The beech forests of sacred Mt. Hakusan are a perfect habitat for wild animals, and a treasure trove of rare species. The prefectural bird of Ishikawa, the golden eagle, is a large bird of prey with a wingspan of up to 2m. Due to their small population, they are designated as a natural monument, and there are nearly 40 of them living on Mt. Hakusan. Japanese serows, also a natural monument, live here. Other animals that live here include Asiatic black bears, mountain hawk-eagles, Japanese macaques, and the ruddy kingfisher, a prefectural endangered species. They can be observed at the Bunao Mountain Observation House.
