Tourist Attraction Information

Furthermore, snow crabs caught at Tsuiyama Port in Hyogo Prefecture are called "Tsuiyama crab," and are marked with a blue tag that certifies they were caught there. Kinosaki Onsen is located very close to Tsuiyama Port, and from November to Mar. the hot spring town is transformed into "Crab Kingdom," attracting a flood of visitors who come to enjoy the crabs. Kinosaki Onsen has been visited by many literary figures from the Edo period to modern times, including Yosano Tekkan and Akiko, Shimazaki Toson, Shiratori Shogo, Tanaka Fuyuji, Arishima Takeo, Saito Mokichi, and Izumi Kyoka. Among them, Shiga Naoya wrote the novel "At Kinosaki" based on his experiences while staying there to recuperate from an injury, and visited the area more than a dozen times in his life. For this reason, he was especially loved by members of the Shirakaba school, who admired Shiga. As a result, 24 literary monuments have been erected at the outdoor baths and in places associated with the baths, and it is interesting to take a literary walk to visit them.
