Sweets from Lake Toya that are garnering attention
When you visit Toyako Onsen, you should definitely try the "white oshiruko" sweet that originated in Lake Toya. Made from white beans grown around the lake and milk from cows raised at the foot of Mt. Usu, it is pure white as its name suggests. There is hot oshiruko and cold oshiruko made with ice cream, and it has attracted attention for its striking appearance and gentle flavor. It can be eaten in the shops, or taken out. There are also souvenirs that can be shipped to other regions.

Hot Springs

A fireworks display that lights up the nights of Lake Toya every night
The Toyako Long-Run Fireworks Festival has become a well-known attraction of Lake Toya. Starting in late Apr., fireworks are launched every night for about six months, except in bad weather. Since 2013, the number of fireworks has increased from about 350 to about 450. Up to 100 fireworks are launched in succession, and the popular underwater fireworks are also held every day. The fireworks are launched from a boat moving on Lake Toya, so they can be enjoyed from anywhere in Toyako Onsen town, and viewing boats also depart. The viewing boats move in tandem with the launch boats, so you can see the fireworks up close.
