Yakumo Town is the only town in Japan facing both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. A wide variety of seafood is caught from these two seas, but the most famous specialty of Yakumo Town is the button shrimp. The Yakumo Town Fisheries Association has been branding the shrimp as "Ochibe Sendan Live Button Shrimp" and has devised and put into practical use a method of transporting button shrimp alive, which are sensitive to temperature changes. Button shrimp, which have a strong sweetness and a plump texture, are popular as a sushi topping and are served at sushi restaurants in the town. They are also delicious when shabu-shabu-style.

This hot spring resort is located in the mountains upstream of the Ochibe River, and is a hidden hot spring with a beautiful natural environment and a wonderful garden covering about 10,000 square meters. There is also an open-air bath on the riverbank. The Yakumo Town Hot Spring Promotion Council has six Accommodation facilities that spring up within the town: Kaminoyu Onsen, Yakumo Onsen, Kenichi Onsen, and Hiratanai Onsen.
