Hot Spring Specialties

A representative Onuma souvenir that can be enjoyed in three flavors
"Onuma Dango", sold at a Japanese sweets shop near JR Onuma Koen Station, is a popular souvenir and local specialty of Onuma. The small, soft dango, about the size of the tip of your pinky finger, are not skewered but instead placed in a folding box, topped with soy sauce paste, smooth bean paste and sesame sauce. They are placed in a folding box to represent Lake Onuma and Lake Konuma, and the dangos are like islands floating on the lake. One fold contains two or three different flavors, all of which are lightly sweet and can be eaten in no time.

Hot Springs

How to enjoy Lake Onuma in summer and winter
Onuma Quasi National Park consists of the area surrounding the lakes and marshes, including Mt. Komagatake and Lake Onuma. There are promenades within the park, and you can enjoy the abundant nature by taking a sightseeing boat around the lake, but if you want to enjoy it even more, we recommend some outdoor activities. At Lake Onuma, you can canoe around courses such as those for observing aquatic plants, and there are large canoes that groups can ride together. In winter, you can enjoy smelt fishing on the frozen lake. There is also a service that allows you to eat the smelt you catch on the spot, so it's definitely worth taking advantage of this.
