吾妻渓谷や白井宿は風情いっぱい。推古朝創建伝承の水澤観音や少林山達磨寺、榛名神社はパワースポットだ。

Highlights

A hidden hot spring at the very back of the Asamagakure Onsen Village. The thatched roof houses on the vast grounds create a unique atmosphere. The artworks displayed inside the building are also spectacular.

山あいに美しい茅葺き家屋が建ち並ぶ
浅間隠山に抱かれた宿「かやぶきの郷薬師温泉旅籠」は、約7000坪の敷地に全国から移築された由緒ある茅葺き家屋が並ぶ。栃木県益子町からの「濱田邸」は、囲炉裏のある夕げ処。かつて名主を務めた群馬県名久田村の「小林家」は、田の字型の間取りで、同じく囲炉裏の食事処。そのほか南部曲り屋の「木村家」や、山形県の最上川中流の台地にあった合掌入母屋造りの「紺野家」などが軒を連ね、懐かしくも重厚な佇まいだ。

稀少なクラシックカーが温泉地を行進
「スプレンドーレ伊香保」は「伊香保おもちゃと人形自動車博物館」が主催するクラシックカーラリー。2013年大会は、1920～1970年代のベントレー、フォード、ホンダなどの65台が出走。2日間で上州・新潟路35ステージ500kmのタイムラリーを戦い、1963年のLOTUS 7 S2 COSWORTHがチャンピオンとなった。動く博物館のようなクラシックカーの隊列は、レース会場のほか川場村、薬師温泉、伊香保の茅葺き建築の宿や食事処にも登場した。
