Hot Spring Specialties

The taste of fresh dorayaki made with safe ingredients is highly rated
Koarai Seika is located along National Route 291 in Minakami Town. Their popular "fresh dorayaki" is a delicious treat that melts in your mouth with a delicate, fluffy dough and azuki cream made from homemade bean paste and fresh cream. They use carefully selected ingredients such as azuki beans from Hokkaido, eggs from domestic chickens delivered directly from contracted farmers, and pure water from the Tanigawa mountain range, making it a popular specialty that everyone loves. They have a wide variety of flavors, including matcha gyokuro, strawberry, ganache chocolate, cheese, butter, Mont Blanc, and more, so it's fun to compare the different flavors.

Hot Springs

A hot spring beloved by great authors and featured in their works
Aug. 1936, Dazai Osamu, who was suffering from Pavinal poisoning and lung problems, visited Tanigawa Onsen on the recommendation of Kawabata Yasunari. In Jun., his first collection of stories, "Bannen," published by Sunakoya Shobo, missed out on the third Akutagawa Prize, and in his despair, Dazai wrote "Souseiki" at Tanigawa Onsen. This place, with its view of the sparkling blue Mt. Tanigawa Tanigawa and the murmuring of the stream that washes over the foothills, was deeply engraved in Dazai's memory and appeared as the setting for his novel "Obasute," published later in life. A monument commemorating this work stands along the road at the entrance to the hot springs.
