Hot Spring Specialties

A rare gourmet rice born from natural water and production technology
Rice cultivation has flourished here since ancient times, where spring water from Mt. Hotaka gathers. The taste of rice grown with natural water is excellent, and there are records of rice being presented to the Imperial Court before the war. "Yukihotaka" is a brand given to Koshihikari rice grown in Kawaba Village that meets standards for cultivation history, grade, and taste. It was considered a "phantom rice" that was not available to the general public, but in recent years it has become available at inns in Kawaba Onsen and at several facilities in the village, so we would love to give this "phantom deliciousness" a try.

Hot Springs

Delicious fruits growing on the southern slope of the sacred Mt. Hotaka
Kawaba Village, located at an altitude of about 500m on the southern slope of Mt. Hotaka, receives plenty of sunlight and is blessed with abundant spring water, making it an ideal place for growing fruit. The temperature difference between day and night increases the sugar content of the fruit, making it known for its outstanding taste. Cherries, blueberries, grapes, apples, and other fruits are also cultivated here, and tourist farms open in various locations for fruit picking in season, and the sweet aroma of fruit wafts through the surrounding area as the fruit approaches its ripeness. Only here can you enjoy fresh, ripe fruit.
