As exemplified by "Shingen's hidden hot spring," warlords in the Sengoku period soothed the fatigue of battle in hot springs. However, there are almost no anecdotes about Oda Nobunaga visiting hot springs. The first recorded instance is of him taking a cure at Hida Gero in 1578, accompanied by Maeda Toshiie and Hashiba Hideyoshi. Mar. that year, Uesugi Kenshin died suddenly, but the year before Shingen attempted to march to Kyoto, and the Oda army, which tried to stop him, was defeated. At the time, Gero Onsen was under the control of the allies who ruled Hida. Perhaps Oda Nobunaga was relieved by the death of his arch enemy Kenshin and took a cure in a safe place.
