Goshiki-pond Nature Trail: A tour around the colorful Goshiki-pond
A trekking course of about 3.6 kilometers that takes you from Bishamon-pond to Yanagi-pond, exploring the mysterious Five Lakes. The Five Lakes refer to a collection of 20 to 30 lakes in the Urabandai region. The colors of the lakes vary due to differences in the dissolution of minerals and the refraction of light. This course is easy to walk as it has a wide path and minimal elevation changes. Along the way, there are viewpoints where you can see large rocks that flowed down during the 1888 eruption of Mount Bandai and red pines that were planted as part of reforestation efforts after the eruption and have since grown large.
