Hot spring eggs boiled in our own hot spring water
The onsen eggs boiled in their own hot spring water are perfect for breakfast as the natural salt in the spring permeates the eggs, concentrating their flavor and making them easy to digest and absorb. Onsen eggs are also sold as souvenirs, and puddings made from onsen eggs are also popular.

Hot Springs

Haikai culture of Tsuchiyu and the Tsuchiyu Association
From the Bunka and Bunsei periods of the Edo period to the early Meiji period, a haiku boom occurred throughout the country. In Tsuchiyu, a haiku group called the "Tsuchyu Ren" was formed, centered around the business owners of inns and shops, and it is said that even the feudal lord of the time participated. They would float boats on the Arakawa River that runs through the town, with geisha by their side, and enjoy composing elegant waka poetry. The Tsuchiyu Ren and its member Hatomaro selected eight landscapes and scenery in the hot spring town, and composed a collection of haiku poems called "Eight Views of Hot Springs." This became the original form of the current "Tsuchyu Hakkei."
