Hot Spring Specialties

A limited-time, local morning market
This morning market is held from May. to early Nov. in the parking lot below Akinomiya Ski Resort. It is called the "Chan-chan Morning Market" because the signs of individual farms are displayed and each sign has the suffix "chan" attached to its name. You can purchase items unique to Akinomiya, such as fresh vegetables, wild plants picked by the vendors themselves, mushrooms, and homemade pickles. It is only open on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays in the morning, so if the timing is right, it is definitely worth stopping by.

Hot Springs

A place to relax: "Kawahara no Yukko"
In the riverbank near the old museum, there is an open-air hot spring called "Kawahara no Yukko." Shovels are provided, and when you dig in the riverbank, hot spring water will begin to flow. Dig to your desired size, surround it with stones, bring in the clear stream, and adjust the temperature to create your own rustic footbath. If you dig even deeper, you can enjoy an open-air bath. Local volunteers provide footbath towels, and a restaurant near the footbath also delivers ramen and other dishes, which is a nice touch.
