~Enjoy the earliest and most beautiful autumn leaves in Japan~

The best time to see the autumn leaves on Mount Asahi, Mt. Kurodake, and Sounkyo Gorge area at the base of Mt. Kurodake is usually from mid-Sep. to mid-Oct..
The ropeway to Asahidake, the highest peak in Hokkaido, is a 10-minute aerial stroll from the base station at an altitude of about 1,100m to Sugatami Station at about 1,600m. In the autumn foliage season, the mountainside is gradually colored with trees such as Rowan or Acanthus orientalis, and a carpet of vibrant yellow and red leaves decorates the mountainside. The best viewing spot is the hiking trail with a good view, which takes about an hour to go around from Sugatami Station, the fifth station of Asahidake, the end point of the ropeway, and is an easy course even for beginners to walk. You can enjoy the ever-changing and majestic scenery, such as Mt. Asahi reflected in Sugatami Pond and Meoto Pond, which were created at the remains of a crater, and the fumaroles emitting white smoke.

[Nov.]
Around the middle of the month, the Hirachi Momiji reach their peak on the plains. The first snow starts to fall in the mountains, and your breath turns white in the mornings and evenings, making sweaters and coats a necessity.
