What is Yokohama?
Minato Mirai area
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse
The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a brick building that was used as a national bonded warehouse from 1911 to 1989.
After finishing its role as a model warehouse, in 2002 it was reborn as the Red Brick Park, which includes exhibition spaces, halls, and other cultural and commercial facilities, and is now one of Yokohama's leading tourist attractions. It is also a popular location for filming TV dramas.
Yokohama Landmark Tower
Yokohama Landmark Tower is a 70-story, 296-meter-tall skyscraper that houses a shopping mall, hotel and other facilities, and the upper floors are also used as offices.
Additionally, there is an observation deck called "SKY GARDEN" on the 69th floor, from which you can get a panoramic view of Yokohama.
Yamashita/Chinatown area
Yokohama Chinatown
Yokohama Chinatown is said to be the largest Chinatown in East Asia.
Once you walk through the gates of Chinatown, you'll see Chinese restaurants lined up everywhere, making you feel like you're really in China.
There are many famous restaurants featured on television and in magazines, so it can be hard to decide which one to choose.
Yokohama Marine Tower
Yokohama Marine Tower was built in 1961 as part of the 100th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port.
Although it closed for a time, it reopened in 2009 to mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port.
This symbolic tower of Yokohama is also popular as a night view spot.
Yamashita Park
It is a waterfront park that stretches for about 1 km along Yokohama Port.
It was built as part of the reconstruction efforts following Kanto, by filling in rubble left behind in the disaster area.
The park offers a panoramic view of Yokohama Port, as well as the moored luxury cruise ship "Hikawa Maru," and various monuments, including a fountain donated by the city of San Diego in the United States, the "Guardian of Water" statue, and the "Girl with Red Shoes" statue.
It is also famous as a filming location for many TV dramas and a popular spot for dates in Yokohama.
