Sapporo City is the provincial capital of Hokkaido and is known for the "Sapporo Snow Festival" held every year in winter.
There are also historical buildings, and the "Former Main Office Building of the Hokkaido Agency" and the "Sapporo Clock Tower" are also designated as important cultural properties of the country.
Also, don't miss the Sapporo ramen, Genghis Khan, and many other gourmet dishes that can only be tasted here.

Former Hokkaido Government Office Building

The Former Hokkaido Government Office Building is affectionately known as the "Red Brick" and is a brick building that was originally constructed as the main building of Hokkaido Office.
The museum also houses a facility that stores historical materials related to Hokkaido.
The building is also lit up at night, allowing you to enjoy a fantastically illuminated view.
The interior is open to the public as the Hokkaido Prefectural Archives, which houses Hokkaido 's ancient documents and other historical materials.

Sapporo City Clock Tower

Along with the aforementioned Former Hokkaido Government Office Building, the Sapporo City Clock Tower is one of Sapporo 's most popular tourist spots. It was built in 1878 (Meiji 11) as a performance hall for Sapporo Agricultural College (now Hokkaido Daigaku), and was later rebuilt and installed in 1881 (Meiji 14).
It is said to be the oldest working clock tower in Japan that still retains its original appearance.
Inside the museum, there are exhibits on how clocks work, as well as a search corner where you can look up cultural assets in the city and Michiuchi.

Odori Park

The Odori Koen is a 1.5 km long Koen that crosses the center of the Sapporo City in Tozai.
The area around Koen is dotted with tourist attractions that represent Sapporo, such as the 147.2m high "Sapporo TV Tower", the aforementioned "Hokkaido Government Office Former Main Building" and "Sapporo City Clock Tower".
Of course, the Odori Koen itself is also beautifully decorated with fountains and Kadan, and is also used as a venue for various events such as the Sapporo Snow Festival.
