Yushien Garden on Daikon Island

Yushien Garden is located on Daikon Island in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, where peony cultivation is popular, and is also famous as a ginseng production area, and has a museum attached to it. Yushien Garden is a beautiful Japanese garden that surrounds a vast pond. In the fall, you can enjoy the light-up and illuminations as a night viewing event.

For seven days from the 11th to the 17th of Oct. on the lunar calendar, gods from all over Japan gather in Izumo to hold religious ceremonies. During this festival, for two days only, on Nov. 10th and 11th this year, Daikonjima's Yushien Garden will be rented out for the night and a special Theatrical Dance Iwami Kagura performance will be held by Club Tourism.
Theatrical Dance Iwami Kagura has a long history, and it is said that the Sahebi Shinnoh of Izumo, a divine performance of Noh songs, was brought to the Iwami region and turned into a theatrical performance for the entertainment of the people. Enjoy the long autumn nights by watching the illuminated gardens and Kagura.
