Hiraizumi

(Image)

Hiraizumi 's Chusonji Temple and Golden Hall are registered as World Heritage Sites and are a must-visit attraction. Along with the divine arts and crafts, you can also experience the history and culture of Hiraizumi. In addition to New Year's visits and viewing the autumn leaves, various festivals and events are held here, so the temple is bustling with many worshippers throughout the year. Goshuin stamps can be obtained at 11 locations, including the Chusonji Temple Main Hall and Benkei-do, and amulets for warding off evil and finding love can also be purchased.

Sanriku Railway

(Image)

A railway line connecting Kuji and Mori. The train running along the coastline has been rebuilt and continues to serve the local community since the earthquake. Due to its location along the ria coastline, there are many tunnels, but the ocean views near stations and other spots are spectacular. The best viewpoint on the Sanriku Railway is just past the tunnel beyond Fudai Station on the Kita-Rias Line. From Kuji to Kamaishi, the diverse scenery of the Rikuchu coastline is beautiful from every angle. The breathtaking ocean views extend for 180 degrees. It is also popular with tourists, offering a variety of train types, including tatami-mat trains and retro trains.

Ryusendo Cave

(Image)

This limestone cave is located in Iwaizumi Town, Shimohei District, in the central part of Iwate Prefecture. It is one of the three largest limestone caves in Japan and is designated as a national natural monument. The highlights are the three underground lakes. The water of the underground lake, which was selected as one of Japan's 100 famous waters, boasts some of the clearest water in the world. The clear blue color of the lake is called "dragon blue," and you can enjoy the beauty of each of the three underground lakes at different depths. The tour takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The average temperature inside the cave is around 10°C throughout the year, so it's a good idea to bring a jacket in the summer.

Iwate 's must-try "mochi dishes"

Did you know that Ichinoseki in Iwate is known as the "holy land of mochi" because the food culture of mochi is so deeply rooted there? Long ago, there was something called the "mochi calendar" in Ichinoseki, and it was customary to eat mochi on more than 60 days a year. In the desire to enjoy these precious mochi, people invented new ways to season and mix them, such as with soybean flour, red bean paste, daikon radish, pickles, walnuts, and perilla seeds. It is said that there are now more than 300 different variations.
In Ichinoseki, mochi can be found on the menu not only at Japanese restaurants but also at Western restaurants and coffee shops.
You may come across some interesting ideas, such as lasagna with mochi and milk tea topped with mochi. It's fun to visit the shops and experience the culture of mochi.

Colorful seafood in a bottle is a hot topic

Have you all heard of Miyako's "Bin Don"?
The coast of eastern Iwate is a treasure trove of seafood, known as Sanriku. When you think of the bounty of Sanriku, sea urchins, abalone, seaweed, and many other things come to mind. Some of you may have seen raw sea urchins packed into milk bottles, and taking inspiration from this, a new specialty called "Bin Don," which is fresh seafood packed into a bottle, is gaining popularity.
Bin-don, a colorful seafood dish packed in a jar, is visually stunning, accented by the sparkling red salmon roe.
You can eat Bin Don at 10 Meals in Miyako, but the way the seafood is packed and the seasoning differs depending on the restaurant. The menu also changes depending on the season, so you'll probably want to come back again and again.

Real-time information on Iwate

Hello, this is Hachi from Hachimantai. After introducing #Himekamiyama last time, I would like you to stop by here for lunch!! So I would like to introduce the lunch spot, Shisho-mae Shokudo in Tamayama! Their horumon hotpot is very famous, and you can make reservations for takeout, so there are always customers. This time, we climbed with a group of five people, so we ordered five servings, and it was the biggest horumon hotpot we have ever had!! Lol (By the way, one serving is attached at the end) I was worried whether this cabbage would really bend, but the umbrellas were disappearing one after another, and we had our usual horumon hotpot☺️ The broth, which was full of garlic, soaked into our tired bodies, and the horumon hotpot, which went perfectly with rice, was a wonderful moment. This time we went straight to a nearby hot spring, but if you are heading back to Morioka, please consider treating yourself to some ice cream at Shizukuishi Pine Cone afterwards. If you are staying in Hachimantai, we highly recommend having yakiniku and horumon hot pot at Oobara Iwate, followed by a relaxing time in the hot springs of Hachimantai! The fact that you can enjoy it in various ways and that it is so accessible is truly the charm of Hachimantai. # Club Tourism # Tohoku #TohokuTrip # Tohoku # Tohoku #MoriokaCity Tohoku Tohoku #TohokuMountainClimbingClub #MtHimekami #TamayamaBranchShopMaeDining #HormoneAtBranchShopMaeDining #HormoneHotPot Iwate #RecommendedLunch #MoriokaLunch #IwateGourmet Iwate #japanlocaltour #japantrip #tohokutrip #iwategram

Hi, I'm Hachi from Hachimantai! I climbed Mt. Himegamiyama (姫神山) again this year in preparation for the Iwate mountain climbing. Hachimantai Iwate It takes about 30 minutes by car from the mountain, 1,124 meters above sea level, and there is a legend that the two were a married couple, but eventually Hayachimine-san became the wife and Himegami-san was banished. This time, we started from the Ipposugi route, which also has a campsite. The first photo shows the route and the Ipposugi cedar from which the trailhead originates. Walking through the cedar forest for about 20 minutes, the stairway to hell begins here. The summit we reached was above a sea of clouds, so I have attached a video of last year's clear summit! The Ipposugi route is varied with mountain paths, stairs, and light rock climbing (gloves or gloves are recommended). This time, the ascent took 1.5 hours. For the return trip, the Kowasaka route is recommended, especially if you are afraid of rocky terrain. Himegamiyama is also selected as one of the 100 best mountains for flowers. Please try climbing it to get acclimated to the climbing season! # Club Tourism Iwate # Tohoku pr bureau # Tohoku travel # let's go # Tohoku # Iwate sightseeing # Morioka city # Morioka sightseeing # Tohoku mountain climbing # Tohoku climbing club # Mount Himegamiyama # Mount Himegamiyama summit # 100 famous mountains for flowers
Hello, this is Hachi from Hachimantai City! Last weekend, Iwate was also a midsummer day with 31 degrees... so I went to Ryusen Cave in search of coolness! It's about 2 hours from Hachimantai, so it's perfect for a day trip when you're staying in Hachimantai ☺️ It's 10 degrees inside the cave! Just as in the photos on the website, I was very fascinated by the beauty, the transparency of the water, and the abyss. And can you find Venus in Ryusen Cave...? I've attached a photo, so please try to find it. The ticket is a joint ticket, so if you don't mind, it might be better to go from Shindo. A recommended stylish lunch in this area is the Galette Cantina! The weather was nice, so we had lunch outside, and we had a very relaxing time. Iwaizumi, where Ryusen Cave is located, is also famous for its matsutake mushrooms. Please come and visit us to escape the heat in summer and enjoy matsutake mushrooms Tohoku Tohoku (and sake too!). Hi, I'm Bee from Hachimantai city! On the 8th, the dragon eye at Hachimantai was declared open. Yesterday was a beautiful day and I happened to be able to visit & photograph the dragon eye on the day it was declared open! The city's tourist association says that the best time to see the dragon eye will be the end of this week, and it is unfortunate that the weather has been breaking every weekend for the past three weeks. The snow has melted as far as Dragon Eye, but there is still snow near the summit, so we recommend waterproof hiking shoes or boots (some places are very wet) if you want to go up to Hachiman-numa. On the way up, you can still hear the cuckoo cicadas singing, and you can feel the last of spring. It is not a very difficult mountain, so please expect to spend about 2 hours on the top of the mountain and take a slow hike around Hachiman-numa. # Hachimantai city # Hachimantai # Hachimantai dragon eye #dragoneye #dragoneye #hachimanuma # Tohoku sightseeing # Tohoku pr station # Club Tourism Iwate #zekkei_navi #japanlocaltour #japantrip #dragoneye #dragoneyes #tohokucamerafan #tohoku_8tabistyle # tohokutrip #daily_photo_jpn #iwategram

Hello, this is Hachi from Hachimantai! Last Sunday was the opening of Nanashigureyama (七時雨山), one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan. The weather seemed to be holding up until 9:00 am...? As expected, the mountain is named Nanashigurezan because it can be climbed seven times in a day. This is the place where the mountain is named "Nanashigureyama," because it drizzles seven times in a day! By the way, it was raining lightly when we got off the mountain... lol There were some beautiful flowers blooming, but the area was marshy (see picture) and it was a big victory for our boots..! The mountain is not so difficult that you can go up in boots, but be careful on the return trip because it is slippery. Also, there are bears...! Bears seem to like the oil on new wooden signs. The picture is at the 7th station. Nevertheless, everyone made it to the summit safely while praying for the safety of everyone climbing this year. During the climb, we met some people who were on a tour and others from the Nanashigure Mount Trail Fest. The trekking competition is this weekend! Registration is closed, but please check it out if you are interested for next year. # Club Tourism Iwate # Tohoku pr bureau # Tohoku tourism # Tohoku travel # mountain climbing # mountaineering # mountaineering beginners # recommended for beginners # Japan's New 100 Mountains # Nanashigureyama # Hachimantai # Hachimantai city # rainy day climbing
