Oboke Gorge is counted as part of Tsurugiyama Quasi-National Park, and the rocks on both sides of Yoshino River are designated as natural monuments by the prefecture. Whirlpools are a natural phenomenon caused by strong tidal currents. The tidal currents in the Naruto Strait are the fastest in Japan, and are said to be one of the three largest tidal currents in the world. You can check the tide table to see the most impressive whirlpools at the time of day. If you want to enjoy the whirlpools up close, we recommend taking the "Uzushio Sightseeing Boat" from the Naruto Tourist Ferry Pier, about a 15-minute drive from Naruto Station.

Mount Bizan, the symbol of Tokushima City and 290m above sea level, is said to be the best spot for night views in Shikoku. The summit, which is maintained as Mount Bizan Park, can be reached by ropeway in about 6 minutes one way. The ropeway runs every 15 minutes and the round-trip fare is 1,020 yen (adults). From the observation deck at the summit, you can get a panoramic view of the sparkling night view of Tokushima City.
