"Seared Moray Eel" made with expert techniques
Kochi's gourmet food is famous for "seared bonito," but "seared moray eel" is also a specialty. Moray eels are only caught and eaten in certain areas along the Pacific coast. They have been eaten for a long time in areas facing the sea, such as Nakatosa Town, Susaki City, Muroto City, and Otsuki Town.
The thick, soft flesh of the moray eel has a light texture. The gelatinous substance under the skin gives off a rich, umami flavor. The two rich yet light flavors are what characterize the moray eel.
The best way to enjoy this flavor is to eat it as "seared moray eel." You can fully enjoy the rich flavor and chewy meat. Moray eels are highly valued in Kochi as a nutritious food ingredient because they remain alive for a while after being caught. If it's your first time tasting it, try the "seared moray eel" first!
Power spot "Hakusan Cave"
Cape Ashizuri is a popular tourist spot with beautiful natural scenery. It is the southernmost cape Shikoku, and the observation deck has a view of over 270 degrees. It is said that the view is so good that you can feel the roundness of the earth. In recent years, Hakusan Cave, located on Cape Ashizuri, has become popular as a power spot for love fulfillment.
It became known as a power spot because the cave entrance looks like a heart and the bedrock above it resembles a woman's profile.
Because the woman visible on the rock face appears to be blessing the cave, it has come to be known as a power spot where love is granted through the blessing of the sea goddess.
The face of the goddess is in a position where you have to look up, so if you want to worship her properly, we recommend going to the free observation foot bath "Manjiro Foot Bath." You can see the face of the goddess directly in front of you while soaking your feet in the foot bath.
If you visit Kochi, be sure to experience the power of nature at Hakusan Cave.
There are many historical tourist spots, such as Katsurahama Beach, where the statue of Sakamoto Ryoma overlooks the Pacific Ocean, and Kochi Castle!
Kochi Prefecture is also home to many scenic spots rich in nature, such as Cape Muroto, which is certified as a Global Geopark, Cape Ashizuri, the southernmost point of Shikoku, and the mysterious power spot, Hakusan Cave Gate.
These are must-visit places, including the Nikobuchi Falls of the clear Niyodo River, known as "Niyodo Blue," Nakatsu Valley, and the sunken bridge over Shimanto River, with its beautiful yet nostalgic scenery.
